Dr. Harsh Kumar has done his MBBS (GOLD MEDALLIST) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and MD (GOLD MEDALLIST) from Dr. R P Centre, AIIMS with Bodh Raj Sabharwal Medal (topped 2 sequential batches of MD ophthalmology at DR R P Centre). He also won the best Senior resident award at Dr. R P Centre AIIMS. He was formerly the President of Glaucoma Society of India (2010-12) & Additional Professor Glaucoma unit at Dr. R P Centre, AIIMS.

Dr. Kumar has conducted numerous courses successfully at AIOS and DOS as chief instructor and is a prolific teacher taking lectures throughout the country and abroad. He performs the most complicated glaucoma procedures using the latest technology available in India including valves, shunts drainage devices and routine surgeries.

Dr. Kumar has numerous awards and honors to his credit over the years. He was conferred the International Medical Scholars Programme Award (ECFMG fellowship) with a Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA (This award is given only to 20 people all over world every alternate year). He was awarded D B Chandra oration in 2007 for outstanding work in glaucoma given by the Alumni association of Allahabad University; the AN Pandeya oration award in the 44th Bihar Ophthalmological Society meeting held at Bodh Gaya in 2010; was awarded an "International Eye Foundation" (IEF) Project, Awarded for Humanitarian service (maximum number of cataract cases done in any eye camp) by Lion club, North India Region, PN Taneja Award for best paper on Retinopathy of prematurity read at Annual Pediatric Society Conference, Certificate of Merit for the best paper presentation at the Annual DOS conference, Delhi (1994), First prize in Ophthalmic Quiz held at the AIOS Conference 1990/1988, A C Aggarwal Trophy (1988) for best paper presentation in Annual meeting of Delhi Ophthalmological society, secured first position in MD (Post Graduation) and maximum marks obtained in two consecutive MD batches, ICMR (1985) Fellowship for medical research, received Senior Science Talent Scholarship (1975), and many more....
