Major General (Dr) Jitendra Kumar Singh Parihar is an astute eye surgeon, academician and skill transfer resource person  of international eminence in the highly specialized fields of Anterior Segment, Glaucoma valve and complex ocular surgeries. He has more than 60,000 Cataract, 2500 Corneal Transplant , 1000 Glaucoma valve and 1500 refractive laser surgeries in his credit in a professional carrier of 35 years. He has served Indian Armed Forces and held various appointments including Professor at AFMC Pune and Professor Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at Army Hospital (Research and Referral) Delhi Cantt for almost one decade. He held the prestigious appointment of Additional Director General Armed Forces(Medical Research ,Health & Training /Education) and was responsible to monitor and galvanized  Medical Research and education in various medical teaching institutes of entire Armed forces services. He has steered and scaled new dimensions to research and academics in collaboration with DRDO and ICMR not only in AFMS but in civil forum as well. He led the organization by setting up a personal example of a committed researcher who conducted 25 research projects himself in his career. Of these, basic research in the field of refractive glaucoma, cultivated ocular stem cells and High altitude medicine proved to be path breaking, published and acclaimed globally. He has designed an indigenous color vision detection device, echoing to make in India.
He has vast experience in medical education in university stream equivalent to the Vice chancellor and having organisational flare to develop facilities of health education and community ophthalmic services. He is a postgraduate teacher and PhD guide of Delhi University as well as an examiner of several universities .His contribution towards augmenting and assuring qualitative jump to medical education and academics in the country as an expert chair of various groups in govt. statuary bodies like National Board of Exams , MCI, ICMR, Life Sciences, BSI ,FDA and public service commissions  has been noteworthy . He has undergone Postdoctoral Long term training in Anterior Segment Microsurgery at All India Institute of Medical Sciences ,New Delhi as well as having distinction of being Fellow of National Academy of Medical sciences, India(FAMS) since 2012.
He has more than 600 publications and research communications in National, International journals and coveted forums. His work including a monograph on Phacoemulsification Surgery attained international authority in medical sciences.   

He has profusely contributed towards prevention and control of blindness activities.
He designed a module comprising transfer of technology of phacoemulsification up to grass root level and to develop modern eye camps with enhanced  facilities and coordination amongst national level organizations as well as to lay stress upon national harmony and environment protection. Approximately 4 Lakh patients have benefitted from more than 275 camps conducted all over the country including remote areas of Ladakh, North East, Maharashtra and West Bengal. Eye camps conducted in ladakh witnessed a rare land mark in the history of modern Ophthalmology, probably maiden Phaco camps ever conducted at a height of 14106 feet, this unique achievement was recognised by the media and was announced as a world record by LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS 2013 for Modern Cataract Surgery at highest altitude in the world.

Major General JKS Parihar has several awards in his credit including coveted recognition by the President of India thrice on the occasions of Republic day  in the form of awards like SENA MEDAL 2003 , VISHISHT SEVA MEDAL 2007 & Bar to VSM in 2014. The “Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Appreciation Award 2016” conferred  by the Govt of Afghanistan for expressing humanity & maintaining roots of mutual friendship through vigorous efforts of treating patients from ANA.
